Welcome

The eight previous congresses of the European Laryngological Society (ELS) have brought laryngologists together and promoted the assessment of their technical and scientific achievements. These meetings have been very stimulating  and enhanced the knowledge of the attendees to a great extent.

It is a great honour to invite you to Helsinki, Finland for the 9th Congress of ELS. By bringing the meeting into one of the Nordic countries the society will give a special opportunity for new members from Scandinavia and Baltic areas to participate in the convention of this active and enthusiastic society. 

The main topics include laryngeal imaging, swallowing disorders and human papilloma virus in the larynx. A faculty of experts will also share their current knowledge of laryngeal carcinoma, glottal insufficiency, neurolaryngology and benign diseases of the vocal fold mucosa. Part of the scientific program, targeted to top professionals, will dive deep into the micro cosmos of laryngology. Nevertheless, elements for continuing medical education, especially designed for general otolaryngologists and residents, will play a significant role.

In June, Helsinki will be a memorable experience for those who have not visited the northern-most Europe before. The fresh and green city by the sea is at its best. But be primed: It is also the most popular congress season of the year. Besides, Helsinki will be the World Design Capital 2012 indicating that you should book your hotel and congress tickets well in advance.

The Finnish organising committee will do its best to offer you an inspiring congress and look forward to meeting you in Helsinki!
